License plates are a part of the vernacular architecture of the west. They have served as a functional and beautiful wall covering in a variety of locations.

This building is located in the central historic district of the town of Telluride. The last time I was there the outbuilding was part of a restaurant's property. |

The building has a unique diamond pattern of colors. Each band is one particular year of Colorado plate. |

Notice that the plates are numerical sequences. Note, too, the 1958 "skier" plate. That is the only year that Colorado used the skier glyph. The numbering style is that of a state with a small population; Wyoming still uses that style. |
